![]() ![]() Am I going to have issues having the Rinnai set to e.g.Is it okay to turn the Rinnai on/off by cutting the power, regularly?.Question: is this a bad idea - specifically. 75 or HI, and it would just be turned on/off based on the Nest's signal. If I move forward, I would essentially turn the Rinnai up to a high level e.g. The ultimate solution would be the ability to connect a low-voltage thermostat directly to the Rinnai but I understand my model does not support this. This would get me me much closer to the ultimate solution. So the Rinnai would be switched on/off directly, and the Nest would be the "source of truth" for the room/are temperature. ![]() ![]() Use a Next thermostat and an Aube 120v / 24v relay. I'd like to do something similar upstairs w/the Rinnai heater. I wired these to two 240v / 24v relays (one for each circuit), and connected them to a Nest thermostat so I can set and monitor the temp for the entire lower level. I can't set or change the temperature and currently I can't even tell what the temperature is on this level of the house (could fix that separately if needed).Īs a bit of an aside, the lower level is heated with baseboard heaters. This works okay but gives me just the bare minimum amount of control - e.g. I currently have it plugged into a smart switch so that I can turn it on/off remotely (this is for a short-term rental property, and we're not local). It has a built-in control panel / thermostat. I have a Rinnai 1004 propane wall heater. At that rate I think I should just do it myself.Ģnd, what else could cause error code 14 on one of these Rinnai wall heaters? I want to explore other options before paying that much, considering the tech wasn't even sure that this replacement would solve the problem.Hi. The wire clips together with an electrical connector.ġst, am I being taken with this labor rate? $500 (so like 4 hours) Seems like alot for that job. part of Arizona, I switch the thermostat over to heat and am appalled when I hear this high pitch whining noise that appeared to coincide with the heater. I saw the part he is going to replace, and it is held in by 2 screws. This seems a little high as his labor rate appears to be about 130 per hour. Today I received the actual quote for the above mentioned repair, and it was about $540 + 125 service call fee. I paid him on the spot 125 service call fee + ~100 for 45 min labor. He said he could order it and return to replace it. He said it is likely the bimetal safety switch and found the replacement part online for ~$30, but hard to determine for sure. We popped off the front panel and didn't see anything concerning, or any signs of real overheating. Last week I called a tech to come out and take a look at it. Warranty 10 yrs on Heat Exchanger/ 5 years on Parts/ 2 Year on Labor. ![]() I have been having a real hard time finding anyone skilled or knowledgeable to fix it, and keep running in to dead ends.
